Electric China
During July 2023 I travelled to Shenzhen, China, to do ethnographic fieldwork on the expanding electromobility industry as part of the ERC Worlds of Lithium research programme. Shenzhen, a megalopolis bordering Hong Kong, concentrates the highest amount of electric vehicles per capita in the world. And not only that, it also houses BYD, the world's largest producer of EVs. Electromobility is not only transforming Chinese society and international relations, but it is also redefining how humans relate to this emerging green technology of mobility.
